Josh Chapin is joining KHOU-TV CBS 11 in Houston, TX as a reporter, New England One has learned.

Josh left WVIT-TV NBC 30 (NBC Connecticut) in Hartford, CT on January 2.

"It's a sad day for me here at NBC Connecticut as I bid farewell tonight at 11pm" he said in a Facebook post on January 2. "After two plus years here in CT I'm moving on to another opportunity in Texas. I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed living and working in this great state. I've met and interviewed amazing people. A special shout out to those in and around the shoreline as New Haven was my home base but from Danbury to Voluntown each and every one one of my stories has been memorable in some way" he continued.

Josh joined NBC Connecticut in November of 2012 and worked as a reporter out of the station's New Haven, CT bureau covering stories around New Haven and up and down the Connecticut shoreline.

Josh came to NBC Connecticut from Cablevision's News 12 Brooklyn where he was a reporter and weekend anchor. While in New York City, Josh covered a wide array of stories, including the killing of an 8-year-old boy who was a member of Brooklyn's Ultra Orthodox Jewish community.

Before he joined News 12 Brooklyn, he was an assignment desk editor and freelance reporter at sister station News 12 The Bronx, where he started his career.

A native of New York City, Josh is a 2009 graduate of Duke University in Durham, NC where he studied classical languages, literatures and linguistics. He also earned a certificate in broadcast journalism.

In his spare time, he is a crossword puzzle fanatic, a rabid sports fan and a music aficionado.

Josh starts at KHOU on January 19.

The first day Monica was here I was on the desk. My last day here at #nbcct she's here too. #poetic. #sadtoleave
