Shayna Seymour has been promoted to co-anchor of Chronicle with Anthony Everett effective Thursday, May 25, it was announced today by Bill Fine, WCVB President and General Manager.

Seymour has been a reporter and producer for WCVB’s award-winning, nightly news magazine Chronicle for eleven years. In addition to her role on Chronicle, Seymour has been co-anchor of the weekend EyeOpener newscasts with Doug Meehan, and her replacement on the weekend morning newscasts is still to be announced.

“Shayna’s journalistic skills, work ethic and enthusiasm have been an asset to the Chronicle team for more than a decade,” said Fine when announcing her promotion. “I’m confident that her unique voice and perspective will enhance her appeal to our viewers as she assumes even more responsibility with the program.”

Chronicle Executive Producer Chris Stirling said, “One of Shayna’s favorite sayings is that ‘team work makes the dream work.’ And she demonstrates that daily with her dedication to the program. I am very excited to have Shayna play an even larger role on Chronicle as co-anchor.”

“Co-anchoring Chronicle is an absolute dream come true,” said Seymour. “There is simply no better team of journalists and storytellers than my co-anchor Anthony Everett, outstanding reporters Erika Tarantal and Ted Reinstein, and the talented behind-the-scenes group of producers, photojournalists, writers, and editors here at Chronicle. I have cherished the opportunity to report and produce for the show, and now to join Anthony as the next anchor team on a very short list over Chronicle’s thirty-five year history…following in the footsteps of legends like Chet Curtis, Mary Richardson, and Peter Mehegan…is the honor of a lifetime.”

With this promotion to Chronicle co-anchor, Seymour replaces JC Monahan who will be leaving WCVB at the end of her contract. Seymour joined Chronicle in April 2006 as a reporter/producer and has since earned numerous distinctions including winning an Emmy Award in 2015. During the last eleven years she’s covered a range of stories: profiling Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres, traveling throughout New England, and tackling the serious topics of teen pregnancy and the disability rights movement. She also anchors Chronicle’s “What’s New?” series, a monthly report on the latest attractions in food, fashion, and fun in the Greater Boston area.

Seymour joined WCVB after working as an anchor and general assignment reporter at WGGB-TV, Springfield. She launched her broadcast career at WSTM-TV, Syracuse. Prior to that, she was employed in the corporate world.

A native of Amherst, Massachusetts, Seymour received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Spelman College and Master of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University. She currently resides in the Greater Boston area with her husband and two children.
