Keke Vencill is joining Boston's WHDH 7 as a weekend evening anchor and reporter, New England One has learned.

"I’m very excited to announce that Keke Vencill is joining us as our new weekend evening anchor" said WHDH news director Linda Miele in an email to staff.

Keke joins WHDH from NH1 News, which was shutdown in February after WBIN-TV was sold in the FCC's spectrum auction.

Keke joined NH1 News before it launched in September 2014 as an anchor and special correspondent.

Prior to working at NH1, Keke spent four years as an anchor and reporter at WCSC CBS 5 in Charleston, South Carolina. Before that, she spent over five years as an anchor, producer, and reporter at WOAY ABC 50 in Oak Hill, West Virginia.

Keke has covered a variety of stories during her career including: the 2006 Sago Mine Disaster in West Virginia; South Carolina Congressman Mark Sanford's political comeback; Haiti's struggle to recover following the 2010 earthquake; and the trial of three men accused of killing an American couple in the Caribbean.

Before starting her career in broadcasting, Keke was a public affairs specialist for the United States Department of Labor.

A native of Kentucky, Keke is a 2003 graduate of Western Kentucky University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism.

Keke starts at WHDH next week.
