Molly O'Brien has left WJAR NBC 10 in Providence, Rhode Island, New England One has learned.

Molly had been the morning traffic anchor and was a technology reporter at the station. She also anchored the stations daily Facebook "Fastcast" newscast.

"Hello friends! I want to say thank you so very much for letting me be a part of your life and morning routine for the past four years" Molly said in a post on Facebook.

"I'm leaving NBC 10. I am thankful you welcomed me into your lives each and every day. I love helping people, whether filling them in on the AM commute, or helping people start the day with a smile. I hope I helped you somewhere along the way. Southern New England is a special place and I'll still be here. I'm just stepping away from Ch. 10. I'll be forever grateful for the opportunities I've had, and what I've been able to share with you! NBC 10 allowed me to go to the World Series, the Super Bowl, climb to the top of the Newport Bridge, and clean the satellite dishes during a snow storm. I've been so fortunate in my time to work with great people day in and day out, both on air and behind the scenes. I've laughed every single day. Thank you Ch. 10 viewers, your loyalty and kindness have been overwhelming throughout the years and I'll always be grateful. It has been a pleasure!"

"NBC 10 Traffic reporter Molly O’Brien has decided to hit the road in search of new adventures" WJAR news director Chris Lanni told New England One.

"Molly joined the NBC 10 Sunrise Team four years ago as a traffic reporter and quickly added technology reporting duties to her list of many contributions to the station. As so often happens in the TV news biz, Molly’s opted to move on. Molly says she's happy to have been part of your morning for the past four years. We here at NBC 10 wish Molly the best" he said.

Originally from Seattle, Washington, Molly came to Providence from Beaumont, Texas, where she was a features and general assignment reporter at KBMT.

Before moving to Texas, Molly was the co-host on "Good Morning Northwest" at KAPP/KVEW in Tri-Cities, Wash.

Along with her co-hosting duties, Molly did the weather and traffic. She also created an environmental segment from the ground up called "On the Green" and wrote a supplemental blog.

Before starting a career in broadcasting, Molly worked for the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game Operations.

Molly graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University. During her time as a Sun Devil, Molly worked for ESPN and spent three years interning at KNXV-TV in Phoenix with the sports department and "Sonoran Living." She also did freelance work in remote production for Monday Night Football, college football, Major League Baseball and NBA games.

Molly is dedicated to helping abandoned animals find forever homes, and she hasn't wasted any time getting involved in Rhode Island's animal rescue community. Molly currently volunteers at Providence Animal Control and is the official spokeswoman for the Ocean State Animal Coalition.

Molly has ample experience volunteering with animal organizations, including the Animal Rescue League, Bound 4 the Pound, the Humane Society, and Beaumont Animal Control. She's also fostered more than 20 cats and dogs, finding them all loving homes.
