Amanda Raus is joining WTIC-TV FOX 61 (FOX CT) as a morning anchor and reporter.

“Amanda is a solid journalist who grew up here in Connecticut. Our viewers will find her energy and enthusiasm the perfect fit to our morning news,” said news director Coleen Marren.

Amanda joins FOX CT from NBC Connecticut, where she has been a general assignment reporter since 2007. Since 2011 she has been working as the stations New Haven bureau reporter, and was a weekend anchor.

During her time at NBC Connecticut, Amanda covered many stories including spending three months covering the trial of Joshua Komisarjevsky. Her coverage of the trial earned her a local AP award and an Emmy nomination. She was also part of the team that was awarded a George Foster Peabody Award for the station’s coverage of Sandy Hook.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the Fox CT team, and I’m especially excited to continue covering the stories that matter to my home state of Connecticut,” said Amanda.

Before NBC Connecticut, Amanda spent two years at WSHM-LD CBS 3 in Springfield, MA as a reporter. In Springfield, she covered everything from sporting events to breaking news. She also had a chance to interview news makers including former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and the late Senator Ted Kennedy.

Amanda got her start as an associate producer and reporter at News 12 Connecticut.

A native of Monroe, CT, Amanda is a graduate of Syracuse University where she earned a degree in broadcast journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Communications. Amanda also received a Master's degree in business administration from Quinnipiac University.

Amanda is currently engaged to NBC Connecticut morning anchor Todd Piro, and will be getting married next month.

Amanda starts at FOX CT on June 30.
