Reporter Amanda Raus has left WVIT-TV NBC 30 (NBC Connecticut) New England One has learned.

NBC Connecticut Director of Community & Public Relations Laura Gremelsbacker confirmed the news to us this afternoon in an email, but no reason was given.

Amanda joined NBC Connecticut in 2007 as a general assignment reporter. Since 2011 she has been working as the stations New Haven bureau reporter, and was a fill-in anchor.

During her time at NBC Connecticut, Amanda covered many stories including spending three months covering the trial of Joshua Komisarjevsky. Her coverage of the trial earned her a local AP award and an Emmy nomination. She also covered the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting during the stations 14 hours of continuous coverage that day.

Before NBC Connecticut, Amanda spent two years at WSHM-LD CBS 3 in Springfield, MA as a reporter. In Springfield, she covered everything from sporting events to breaking news. She also had a chance to interview news makers including former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and the late Senator Ted Kennedy.

Amanda got her start as an associate producer and reporter at News 12 Connecticut.

A native of Monroe, CT, Amanda is a graduate of Syracuse University where she earned a degree in broadcast journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Communications. Amanda also received a Master's degree in business administration from Quinnipiac University.

Amanda is currently engaged to NBC Connecticut morning anchor Todd Piro, and will be getting married next month.
