New England Cable News anchor Bridget Blythe has left the Newton, MA based regional news channel, New England One has learned.

The station declined to comment, but several sources within NECN have told New England One that Bridget is no longer with the station. No reason was given for her departure.

Bridget joined NECN in January 2011, and most recently anchored the 9am-10am newscast and co-anchored the Noon newscast with Steve Aveson after the station shuffled its anchor lineup.

During her time at NECN, Bridget covered notable stories like the Boston Marathon Bombings and the days that followed in 2013, the arrest of former Patriots Player Aaron Hernandez, the capture of Mobster Whitey Bulger, and verdicts in numerous high profile court cases.

Before joining NECN, Bridget spent over 5 years at WKBW-TV ABC 7 in Buffalo, NY where she was an anchor, reporter and producer. While there, she was part of the coverage for major events including the February 2009 crash of Continental Airlines flight 3407, which killed 50 people in the Buffalo suburb of Clarence Center.

Bridget started her career as a multimedia journalist at regional cable station Capitol News 9 (now known as Time Warner Cable News Capital Region) in Albany, NY.

A native of Saratoga County in Upstate New York, Bridget grew up around newsrooms as the daughter of a reporter and news director. She is a 2002 graduate of the State University of New York at Albany where she earned a Bachelor's degree in political science.
