With only one day left in the January ratings period, and before February sweeps begins, WCVB is claiming victory in its long run as Boston's news leader.

WCVB wins across the board in total HH viewers, and in P2+, while WBZ, WHDH & WFXT all take a turn at second place in different day parts.

In the key A25-54 advertiser demo (which is the most important as it is used to set ad rates,) WCVB had a first place win in 4 newscasts, WFXT and WHDH both had 2 wins.

Some key notes in the A25-54 demo:

  • From 7am-9am, FOX 25 has the only local news, and comes in #2 just behind Good Morning America on WCVB, beating both the Today show on WHDH and CBS This Morning on WBZ.
  • Ratings from 9am-10am, and from 4pm-5pm were not available to New England One.
  • WCVB and WHDH tied for first with their noon newscast, with WBZ not far behind.
  • From 5pm-6pm, WCVB was in first, but WHDH was only 1 rating point behind.
  • FOX 25 News at 10 is the most watched late news program, rating higher then the WHDH broadcast aired on WLVI and the WBZ broadcast aired on WSBK combined. It also rates higher then any newscast at 11pm.*
