As all Boston stations went into continuing coverage for the Blizzard of 2015, FOX 25 (with it's newly beefed up news team) proved Cox Media means business in the stations news coverage.

From Monday at 4pm when the storm was starting, to Wednesday at 10am when the cleanup was underway, FOX 25 News provided the most broadcast coverage to viewers. Of the 42 hours the storm was affecting the area, FOX 25 provided 35 hours of live coverage on-air and across all devices through its livestream online.

In comparison:

  • WCVB had 29 total hours of coverage
  • WBZ had 26 total hours of coverage
  • WHDH had 24 hours of coverage

FOX 25 remained on the air and livestream from Monday at 10pm until Tuesday at 8pm, giving viewers 22 hours of continuous Blizzard 2015 coverage, which was the longest continuous stretch of any station. The most any other station stayed in continuous coverage was 16 hours. FOX 25 was also the only station to be on the air and livestreaming during the overnight and early morning hours on Tuesday, providing continuing coverage from midnight to 4am, when the conditions became some of the most dangerous of the entire storm.

In terms of ratings, there was extremely high interest in coverage on all platforms and especially on television, as people were stuck in their homes.

WCVB remained Boston's news leader in total viewers, but according to key demo results (A25-54,) starting with Monday’s morning news through last night’s late newscasts:

More viewers turned to FOX 25 than any other station from 4am-10am*.

On Monday night, as the storm was picking up, FOX 25 News at 10 was the #1 late news, beating all other 10 and 11pm newscasts*.

  • When FOX 25 was the only station to stay on the air overnight Monday into Tuesday from Midnight until 4am, the station was easily the most watched during those hours. Later in the morning, FOX 25 Morning News achieved an all-time station high in the 7-9am block on Tuesday with a 3.7 rating, which was also #1 in the time period

On Tuesday night, as the storm wound down and viewers began to prepare for Wednesday, FOX 25 aired a special hour at 9pm, which achieved a 2.4 rating and finished #1 in the time period.
