More people, including Tom Brady's wife super model Gisele Bündchen, turned to WCVB-TV ABC 5 in Boston for their coverage of the duck boat parade that celebrated the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots yesterday.

While thousands of fans braved the cold weather and formidable snow banks to see the team roll through the streets of Boston, thousands more who weren't able to attend in person watched on TV.

While all Boston stations were in parade coverage from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., WCVB delivered the most total viewers.  WCVB delivered an average 161,000 persons 2+ from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., beating its competition WHDH (140,000); WBZ (80,000) and WFXT (79,000).

Once the parade was in full swing from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., WCVB beat its competitors handily with an average of 202,000 total viewers compared to WHDH (156,000), WBZ (106,000) and WFXT (85,000).  WCVB Channel 5's viewership peaked at 11:45-Noon with 230,000 persons 2+, 75,000 more people than the next competitor WHDH (155,000).

"Our strong parade coverage ratings reaffirm that more people turn to Channel 5 for live, breaking news when big events happen in Boston.  Viewers trust WCVB to bring these stories to life in a way like no other station can, and to deliver the most insightful, comprehensive coverage from start to finish," said Bill Fine, WCVB President and General Manager.

It was a different story in the adults 25-54 demographic, where the race was tight between WCVB, WFXT & WHDH.

From 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., both WFXT and WHDH averaged a 1.7 rating, WCVB a 1.5 and WBZ 0.7.

In addition to television viewing, WCVB also reports that their Live Stream on WCVB.com and Mobile app also had a great impact, with a total of 250,000 page views.
