Danielle Vollmar is leaving WCVB-TV ABC 5 to join Nashville's WKRN-TV ABC 2 as chief meteorologist, New England One has learned.

Her last day at WCVB is on June 19, and she starts at WKRN on July 5. In between leaving WCVB and joining WKRN, she will be marrying Boston radio personality Joe Breezy, who will be relocating with her to Nashville.

“I am thrilled that Danielle is joining our outstanding weather team as Chief Meteorologist,” sad WKRN GM Steve Watt. “She is a true professional and gifted communicator. She has some big shoes to fill but I have a lot of confidence in her. I know our viewers will feel the same way,” he added.

Danielle is a seasoned meteorologist, with extensive weather tracking experience. She joined WCVB in April 2013 as the weekend EyeOpener meteorologist, arriving just two weeks before the Boston Marathon Bombings. During the winter of 2014-2015, she kept viewers informed as they experience a record setting year for snow. Danielle received New England Emmy nominations for best weather anchor in both 2015 and 2016.

“I am very excited to work for a station that values presenting the best news and weather information to its viewers, and has made a real commitment and impact on the local community,” said Vollmar. "I think it will be a great fit all around. I am already involved with so much charity work here in Boston and I can't wait to start giving back in a state that values volunteerism."

Danielle has run the Boston Marathon to raise money for Spaulding Hospital which helped rehabilitate the marathon bombing victims. She also loves visiting schools and teaching children about the weather. After school she coaches youth girls lacrosse. She is a member of Junior League, volunteering and raising money to benefit the community.

Weather and keeping viewers safe is truly her passion. Danielle has presented tornado research at the National Weather Association Conference. She was also selected as a broadcast meteorologist in the NOAA Hazardous Weather Testbed in 2014. The joint project by the National Weather Service and the National Severe Storm Laboratory puts forecasters, university staff and weather researchers together to test new weather research tools or solve problems that impact weather forecasting.

Before joining WCVB, Danielle was a freelance meteorologist at WTXF-TV FOX 29 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Prior to working in Philly, Danielle worked at KDAF-TV CW 33 in Dallas, Texas. She joined the station in November 2011 as a host and meteorologist for the station’s Eye Opener program, before moving to the Nightcap program at the same station. Both shows are broadcast on all Tribute Broadcasting-owned stations in the country.

Before working in Dallas, Danielle was a meteorologist and anchor at KOKH-TV FOX 25 in Oklahoma City. She joined the station in 2009 as a meteorologist for the weekend newscasts before moving to the station’s morning newscast Good Day Oklahoma. While there, she covered severe and breaking weather events including tracking multiple tornadoes, and the Christmas Eve blizzard of 2009 which paralyzed central Oklahoma.

Danielle started her professional career at WBOC-TV CBS 16 in Salisbury, Maryland, where she was the noon and 4pm meteorologist for almost three years. While at WBOC, Danielle received an AP Award for Best Weathercast.

A native of Lansdale, PA, Danielle is a graduate of Cornell University where she studied atmospheric science and communications. She has also been awarded the certified broadcast meteorologist seal from the American Meteorological Society.
