Jeremy Reiner has been promoted to Chief Meteorologist at WHDH NBC 7, New England One has learned.

"I am so excited to announce that Jeremy Reiner is our new Chief Meteorologist" WHDH news director Linda Miele wrote in an email to staff.

"In is 10 years at 7 News, Jeremy has upped our storm game and our newscasts with his deep understanding on New England Weather. And we've grown to love his cool socks and encyclopedic knowledge of Star Wars too! In my book Jeremy is the most accurate forecaster in town and viewers recognize that as well. We are so lucky to have him on our team and leading our weather department."

Jeremy joined WHDH in May 2006 as the morning meteorologist for 7 News Today in New England. He moved to weekend evenings in 2007 before returning to weekday mornings in 2012. Jeremy had been filling in on the evening newscasts since former chief meteorologist Pete Bouchard left the station in December 2015 to join NECN/NBC Boston.

"I couldn't be happier about this" said 7 News anchor Adam Williams. "Congrats to the best and most energetic meteorologist in New England!"

7 News weekend morning meteorologist Chris Lambert added "Congrats to a great guy and a great meteorologist... well deserved!"

Jeremy came to WHDH in from WSOC ABC 9 in Charlotte, NC where he was a meteorologist for almost 7 years. While at WSOC, Jeremy received the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal from the American Meteorological Society. He was the first TV meteorologist to receive this seal in the Charlotte television market.

He has also worked as a meteorologist at WGME-TV CBS 13 in Portland, ME; and at KAAL-TV ABC 6 in Austin, MN.

A native of Dalton, MA, Jeremy is a 1993 graduate of Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, VT where he attained a Bachelor's degree in meteorology.
