Chief Chief Meteorologist Pete Bouchard resigned from Sunbeam Television's WHDH-TV NBC 7 / WLVI-TV CW 56 in Boston today, New England One has learned.

A request to WHDH for comment was not immediately returned. Pete's bio is still up at WHDH.com, but he has changed his twitter name from @pbouchardon7 to @pbouchardwx. Pete presented his last forecast on WHDH on Monday night, and Bri Eggars was called in for Tuesday night's newscasts.

Pete joined WHDH in June 2002, and was promoted to chief meteorologist in 2005 when Todd Gross left the station. He joined WHDH from WPXT-TV in Portland, ME where he was the chief meteorologist for four years. Before that, he spent two years at WFXT-TV in Boston as a weekend meteorologist.

He's also been a weekend meteorologist at WGME-TV and WMTW-TV, both in Portland.

During his time as a meteorologist, Pete has been nominated twice for a New England Emmy for Best Weathercast. He also won the "Best of Boston" award for Best Meteorologist in 2007, 2008 and 2010. While he was in Portland, he was the Maine Association of Broadcasters Best Meteorologist in 2002, and won an AP Award for Best Meteorologist in 2001.

Pete was born in California, and later moved to Vermont with his family. He is a 1992 graduate of Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, VT where he received a Bachelor's degree in meteorology.

Pete starts at New England Cable News on January 11, and will be part of the new NBC Boston once launched.
