Starting Saturday, Sept. 20, at 8 a.m., WTXF, the Fox O&O in Philadelphia, will begin airing a weekend morning newscast called #fox29weekend.

The station already does an hour-long newscast on Saturday and Sunday at 6 and 10 p.m.

According to WTXF’s creative services director, Audrey Fish, “#fox29weekend is an interactive, social newscast with viewer generated news content and regular contributors who are not reporters, but news makers in the market.

“These contributors will Skype in or even shoot content via their phones.

“The content will be unique and reflect what our viewers/social media followers/fans expect.

“We are launching the show with a brand new stage that hosts 3 different newscasts.

“The set is designed to be 360 degrees, and has a street-side view of Center City Philadelphia.

“#fox29weekend allows us to experiment on unique types of stories, and different ways of gathering and presenting. Content that ‘works’ may be used in other newscast.

“It’s really part of the overall station goal to create the ‘newsroom of the future’.”
