Media General, Inc. today announced that Ashley Gold Messina has been named Vice President and General Manager of KRON-TV, its MyNetworkTV affiliate in San Francisco, CA, effective September 10, 2014. Ms. Messina is currently Vice President and General Manager of WDCW-TV in Washington, DC.
"Ashley is a strong leader and great competitor. She is the right person to take the leadership role at KRON," said Deborah A. McDermott, Senior Vice President of Broadcast Markets for Media General.
Ms. Messina has been with WDCW since 2001 when she joined the station as a local account executive. She became National Sales Manager for the station in 2007 and General Sales Manager in 2009. She was named to her current position in 2010. Ms. Messina began her broadcast career with WIHT Radio in Rockville, MD. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS in Marketing and a BS in International Business. She is a board member of the Maryland, Delaware, DC Broadcasters Association and a graduate of the National Association of Broadcasters Leadership Training Program. She serves as a guest speaker for the University of Maryland Business School, focusing on women in leadership and media. Ms. Messina is a marathon runner.
Ms. Messina said, "It is an honor to work with the great team at KRON. Our mission will be to serve the Bay area viewers and grow the station."
