Eyewitness News on WPRI 12 and Fox Providence had a strong May 2014 ratings period – winning four newscasts and becoming the only local news station to gain viewers in local news share in the Providence/New Bedford television market.
 
Highlights include:
 
• Eyewitness News at 10 p.m. on Fox Providence was the #1 late news
• Eyewitness News at Noon was #1 in its time period
• Eyewitness News at 5 p.m. was #1, tied with WJAR
• Eyewitness News This Morning was the #1 newscast weekdays at 4:30 a.m., tied with WJAR
• Eyewitness News at 6:30 p.m. on Fox Providence grew Adults 25-54 by 75%
• WPRI.com grew its digital audience by 24%
 
This May, Eyewitness News finished first in four newscasts. More specifically, Eyewitness News This Morning at 4:30 a.m. on WPRI 12 was #1 with Adults 25-54, up 100% year to year. Eyewitness News This Morning at 7 a.m. on Fox Providence continued its growth in key demos, up 17% with Adults 25-54. Eyewitness News at Noon was once again #1 with Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49.
 
Also in May, Eyewitness News Live at 5 p.m. finished in first place, tied with WJAR, in Adults 25-54. Eyewitness News at 6:30 p.m. on Fox Providence grew in Adults 25-54, with 75% growth in the time period year to year and up 14% from February 2014 to May 2014. In the late news race, Eyewitness News at 10 on Fox Providence was #1 with Adults 25-54.

In other key programming, The Rhode Show on WPRI 12 continues on its path of consistent growth. Rhode Island’s only local, lifestyle, news and entertainment program was up 14% in Women 35+ year to year.
 
WPRI’s growth also extends to its digital multi-screen coverage. According to Adobe Analytics, WPRI.com was up 24% year to year in total page views and up 15% in unique visitors.
