After over 23 years, Emmy Award-winning “Call 12 for Action” consumer reporter Susan Hogan is leaving WPRI-TV CBS 12/WNAC-TV FOX 64 in Providence, RI, New England One has learned.

"It is with mixed emotions that I announce Susan Hogan will be leaving WPRI at the end of December" WPRI news director Karen Rezendes said in an internal e-mail to station employees.

Since joining WPRI in September 1992 as a consumer reporter, Susan has won numerous awards for her story telling and has been an integral part of the Eyewitness News team. During that time, she has been a member of the "Target 12 Investigators," and spearheaded the consumer franchise "Call 12 for Action."

In her time running Call 12 for Action, Susan has recovered millions of dollars for consumers, put bad contractors in prison, and changed laws that now provide better safeguards for homeowners against unscrupulous contractors. She’s also saved homes from foreclosure and helped dozens of people to get their unemployment checks when they couldn’t do it on their own.

"Susan and her team of volunteers have helped hundreds of Southern New Englanders solve consumer problems" Rezendes said. "Her stories have also helped to change the laws that will continue to benefit our viewers for years to come."

Susan has earned 7 Emmy Nominations, including one Emmy for her investigative reporting. She was also recently awarded the prestigious Justice Award by two Attorneys General, Patrick Lynch and Peter Kilmartin; and was recognized for her dedication and commitment to consumer protection.

Before joining WPRI, Susan started her on-air career as an anchor and consumer reporter at WVII-TV ABC 7 in Bangor, ME. Prior to that, she worked behind the scenes at WCVB-TV ABC 5 in Boston.

A native of Northern Rhode Island, Susan is a graduate of Syracuse University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in consumer studies.

Susan will be joining NBCUniversal's WRC-TV NBC 4 in Washington, D.C., the home of NBC News' Washington bureau,  out of which the network's long-running political program Meet the Press is based.

"I’m very happy to announce that Susan Hogan will become our consumer investigative reporter" said WRC Vice President of News Mike Goldrick in an email to staff.

"Susan is moving to our area to join her fiancé, a captain in the U.S. Navy. She has three kids (16 year old twins and an 11-year old) and is a marathon runner, proudly running in the 2014 and 2015 Boston Marathons" Goldrick said. "As a graduate of Syracuse University, Susan will be in good company here. We’re looking forward to her joining us after the New Year."

"I know this was a difficult decision for Susan to leave WPRI after devoting much of her time, talents and tenacity to Eyewitness News" Rezendes said in closing. "But I'm sure you join me in wishing Susan and her family all the best as she takes on new challenges at WRC-TV."

Susan starts at WRC on January 18.
