Jim Lokay has joined WTTG-TV FOX 5 in Washington, D.C. as reporter and anchor, announced station Vice President and News Director, Paul McGonagle.

In making the announcement, McGonagle stated, “Jim is a dynamic talent who can do it all. Viewers will appreciate his energy and reporting style. We are thrilled he is joining the FOX 5 News Team.”

"I'm excited for many reasons, both personal and professional" Jim said in a statement on Facebook. "They're doing some great things at Fox 5, and it's one of the few local newsrooms that's truly willing and able to stretch the boundaries of creative storytelling. As a big sports fan, I'll have the chance to report on some major stories down there as well."

Most recently, Jim spent four years as the weekend morning anchor and weekday reporter for WCVB-TV ABC 5 in Boston, a position he left on October 31 to be closer to family.

He says that this move "gives me a chance to be closer to my parents back in Pittsburgh. It's a four-hour drive, which beats the constant back and forth via plane. I had the opportunity to stay put in Boston and do good things with a great station - but in the end, this won out."

Jim joined WCVB from KDKA-TV CBS 3, the CBS owned and operated station in Pittsburgh, PA. in 2005, he was hired as station's first traffic and transportation reporter. He later took on a general assignment reporter role, and then took over the stations consumer reporting franchise. He was also a primary fill-in news anchor at the station.

During his time at KDKA, Jim also hosted a variety of non-news programs including the station's New Year's Eve special and the annual "Children's Hospital FreeCare Fund Telethon."  In addition, he also co-hosted pre-game shows featuring the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Penguins and served as an occasional talk radio host at KDKA-AM radio.

Jim has also worked as a reporter and anchor at News 10 Now (now YNN Central New York) in Syracuse, NY; and as a anchor and editor at Metro Networks. In addition to his work in broadcasting, Jim has been on the Board of Directors of the American Liver Foundation since 2006.

A native of East McKeesport, PA, Jim is a 2002 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania in California, PA where he studied communications.

Jim will report news and sports for the station’s “FOX 5 News” at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts effective November 16.

"Fox 5 does local news unlike any other station" Jim added, "and to be part of such a creative and innovative newsroom is truly an honor. Plus, as a big sports fan, DC is a great place to be right now!"
