Three key behind-the-scenes roles have been named at Hartford's WFSB-TV CBS 3, including the position of assistant news director.

The announcement was made this morning by WFSB news director Dana Neves.

Shawana Perry has been named assistant news director effective immediately. She replaces Patience Hettrick, who was recently named news director of Meredith Corp sister-stations WSHM-LD/WGGB-TV in Springfield, MA.

Perry comes back to WFSB, and New England, from WHIO-TV CBS 7 in Dayton, OH where she had been an executive producer for the past three years. Before that, she was the assistant news director at KTVX-TV ABC 4 in Salt Lake City, UT.

Perry spent the first ten years of her career in New England, first as a producer at WGGB-TV in Springfield; and then at WPRI-TV/WNAC-TV in Providence, RI. She spent almost five years as an executive producer during her first stint at WFSB.

Neves says Perry "brings with her a vast knowledge of the ever-changing business and a cache of great ideas!"

Perry is a graduate of Clark University in Worcester, MA where she earned a Bachelor's degree in communications and culture.

Tracy Furey has been named the Executive Producer of Better Connecticut, effective August 15, 2015.

Fury has most recently been an executive producer at WFSB.

She's also been a producer and associate producer at the station.

Tracy is married to WTIC-TV FOX 61 meteorologist Joe Furey.

Better Connecticut is hosted by Scot Haney & Kara Sundlun, and airs weekdays at 2pm of WFSB.

The 7th season of Better Connecticut will debut on Monday, September 14, 2015.

Jamie Mascia will be the new Sr. Producer of Special Projects. She will manage sweep calendars, special projects, and the Your Health franchise. She will assume this new role as this season of Better Connecticut concludes.

Mascia has been with WFSB since 2004. She spent her first four years as a news producer, producing news across every time period. In 2010, she was promoted to senior producer, and was responsible for overseeing the weekday morning news program.

In 2012, Mascia was promoted to executive producer of Better Connecticut. In this role, she oversees the state's #1 rated lifestyle show - including all aspects of production and promotion. In 2014, she was named to Connecticut Magazine's 40 under 40 list.

Mascia started her career at WGGB-TV in Springfield as a producer and assignment desk assistant. She has also interned at WVIT-TV.

A native of Waterbury, CT, Mascia is a 2003 graduate of Hofstra University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism.

In addition to these changes, Neves will add overseeing the stations I-Team to her duties effective immediately.
