"I'm thrilled to finally announce that I'll be joining the Western Mass News team on Nov 16th as a full-time on-air meteorologist" Jacob said in an announcement. "WMN has an excellent staff of very talented meteorologists and journalists, and I'm honored to be working alongside them."

Jacob is no stranger to Western Mass News viewers, he's been working at the station since June as a fill-in meteorologist.

He says "I look forward to the challenge that is New England weather. Each season has its own beauty but brings with it certain dangers. I hope you look to me and the rest of First Warning Weather team for your forecasts."

Jacob will be working alongside fellow meteorologist Nick Morganelli weekday evenings. He will be forecasting the weather from 4pm-5pm on CBS 3, and from 6pm-6:30pm on ABC 40.

Jacob joins Western Mass News from Earth Networks, the weather company that runs WeatherBug, where he was most recently a meteorologist and program manager. While there, he provided meteorological and technical support to the company’s media partners across the U.S. He also trained on-air meteorologists at new partner stations regarding the effective use of WeatherBug.

"I would be remiss if I didn't thank WeatherBug" Jacob says. "They are a large part of where I am today, and I'm forever grateful for the opportunities they've given me."

During his time at Earth Networks, Jacob was also a freelance meteorologist at WJAC-TV NBC 6 in Johnstown, PA; and at WHAG-TV NBC 25 in Hagerstown, MD.

In addition to his on-air experience, he also interned at WTNH-TV in New Haven, CT; WBFF-TV in Baltimore, MD; and WRC-TV in Washington, D.C.

A native of Northeast Ohio, Jacob moved to the area to join his wife Sujata Jain, who joined WFSB in Hartford as a reporter in April 2015. He is a 2009 graduate of Western Connecticut State University in Danbury where he earned a Bachelor's degree in operational and theoretical meteorology.
