The awards ceremony for the Boston chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is taking place tonight.

Among those being honored, Leonard Nimoy, better known to most earthlings as the actor who played Spock in the ‘‘Star Trek’’ television show and movies, will receive the Governors’ Award.

The 83-year-old actor grew up in the West End of Boston, where he performed onstage from the age of 8 through his teens before setting out for Hollywood.

The awards ceremony will be taking place at the Boston Marriot at Copley Place at 7:30pm following dinner which starts at 6pm & a reception the starts at 5pm.
