Meteorologist Garett Argianas has been promoted to weekday evening meteorologist at News 12 Connecticut in Norwalk, Cablevision's regional cable news channel.

Garett had been freelancing for the station since February, and leaves his freelance position at WVIT-TV NBC 30 (NBC Connecticut) that he has held since 2011. In addition to his position at News 12 CT, Garett provides forecasts for WAMC Northeast Public Radio. He also owns his own firm, Weather Consulting Services.

"I wanted to say a special thank you to my friend and co-worker Meteorologist Garett Argianas" said NBC Connecticut chief meteorologist Brad Field on his Facebook page earlier this month. "There is no quality I admire more than loyalty, and in our 10 + years as friends, no one aside from my immediate family has shown me more" said Field. He added "we wish him the very best and great success in the future!"

Prior to his time at NBC Connecticut, Garett spent almost four years as the chief meteorologist at WTIC-TV FOX 61 (FOX Connecticut) and the Hartford Courant, where he wrote a daily column.

Before that, he spent four years at NBC Connecticut as the weekend meteorologist. He has also worked at WRGB-TV in Schenectady, NY.

A native of Shelton, CT, Garett is a 2001 graduate of the University of Albany where he earned dual Bachelor's degrees in atmospheric science and mathematics. He has been recognized as a “Certified Broadcast Meteorologist” by the American Meteorological Society (AMS), the most prestigious certification awarded to broadcasts meteorologists.

Congrats to Garett!
