Kristen Johnston has joined WVIT-TV NBC Connecticut as a morning reporter.

Kristen comes to WVIT from KTIV-TV NBC 4 in Sioux City, IA where she was most recently a weekend anchor and reporter.

Kristen started her career at KTIV in 2003 when she joined the station as a producer/reporter. In 2005, she was promoted to senior reporter/fill-in anchor, and in 2008 was promoted to weekend anchor.

During her years at KTIV, Kristen has reported on everything from Monster Truck Racing to the race for the White House.  While she likes the variety in her job, politics is her passion.  She also followed the activities in city hall as well as state and national politics. In 2014, she won a local Emmy Award for best weekend newscast.

Kristen also spent a summer in New York City interning for NBC News.

Kristen left KTIV in August 2014 ahead of her fairytale wedding at Disney World to her husband Josh Woolridge, whom she met while working at KTIV (he was a master control operator.) She was then able to join her husband in Connecticut, where he has been for the last three years working for ESPN.

A native of Lake Zurich, IL, Kristen is a 2002 graduate of the University of Iowa where she earned a Bachelor's degree in journalism, mass communications & political science.

Kristen started at WVIT in January.
