Reporter Hena Daniels has left WFSB-TV CBS 3 in Hartford, CT. Her last day was Monday.

Hena was most recently part of the special projects unit at WFSB, reporting for the "On Your Side" and "I-Team" brands.

In a statement, Hena said "My experience at the station and my entire time at Meredith Corp. has been rewarding. I'm excited by the chance to explore new opportunities and be closer to home."

Hena has had two stints at WFSB, first coming to the station in 2005 as a general assignment reporter.

In 2008, she was promoted to weekend evening anchor, making her one of the first Pakistani news anchors in the U.S. Also that year, a reporting adventure took her to Pakistan days after martial law was declared in the country. Hena had exclusive access to a military base in Karachi. She interviewed former President Pervez Musharraf's retired Lieutenant Colonels. She also reported at Benazir Bhutto's house while the Prime Minister was under house arrest and weeks before being assassinated.

In 2010, she left WFSB to join Meredith Corporation sister station WGCL in Atlanta as a reporter and fill-in anchor.

Hena returned to WFSB in March of 2012 as weekend evening anchor, saying at the time "“I’m thrilled to be back. I’m from NYC so after spending two years in the South I realized I wanted to be closer to my family and friends.  Plus, as often as I anchored at CBS Atlanta (which was the last 5 months [at the station]) Channel 3 offered a full-time anchor job. It’s nice to come back to a dominant number one station and be closer to home.”

In August of 2012, Hena moved from weekends to weeknights to be Dennis House's co-anchor on the 11pm news. In May of 2014, Hena was taken off the anchor desk, leaving Dennis House to again anchor the newscast alone.

In October 2014, we reported that Hena was looking to leave WFSB after she was spotted auditioning for an anchor position at WHDH-TV in Boston.

Hena came to WFSB, the first time, from WTOC-TV CBS 11 in Savannah, GA where she was a general assignment reporter. Prior to that, she was a multimedia journalist at WWTI-TV ABC 50 in Watertown, NY.

A native of New York City, Hena is a 2000 graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo where she earned two bachelor's degrees in english and psychology.

Hena has won several awards including an Associated Press award for Best Spot News, Best Breaking News and Best Sports Feature. In 2009 and 2010, she was voted Best Reporter by the readers of Hartford Magazine.

In addition to her work in television news, Hena is an Adjunct Professor at Capital Community College and has also taught at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting.

Her love for journalism began during her two years as the feature editor for her campus newspaper, The Spectrum. Hena later started her television career producing newscasts, but very quickly learned she preferred being in the field.
