Sports Director Noah Finz has left WTNH-TV ABC 8 in New Haven, CT after more than 18 years at the station, he has announced.

Noah told The Laurel that his contract was up at the end of December and he is pursuing an “exciting, new project,” which he hopes to announce in the coming weeks.

“I’m very proud of what we accomplished at WTNH, bringing nearly two decades of the zeitgeist of local sports into Connecticut homes,” he said. “But the news industry and its sports model is changing. That’s why the timing of this is so perfect. As WTNH is scaling down its sports coverage, this new project will allow me to give viewers even more.”

Noah has covered sports in the state of Connecticut since he joined WTNH in 1997.

An Emmy Award winning anchor and producer, Noah has been creating, producing and hosting original programming for over 20 years. Since 2009, he has also been a partner in P Garyn Productions, a small video production company that produces video services and programming for companies and organizations.

Prior to joining WTNH, Noah spent two years as a sports reporter and anchor for KEYE-TV in Austin, TX.

His first job in television was as the sports director at KEYT-TV in Santa Barbara, CA. where he was honored with an Emmy award, seven Associated Press awards and five Golden Mike awards.

Before his time in television, Noah worked as a newspaper reporter for Ventura Today in California, and as a traffic reporter for KTMS radio.

A native of Queens, NY, Noah was raised in California. He is a 1989 graduate of the University of Santa Barbara where he earned a Bachelor's degree in English.
