Telemundo Boston / WNEU today announced that its first-ever live local newscasts – Noticiero Telemundo Boston – are slated to begin airing on Monday, August 17. The two live, half-hour newscasts will air weeknights (Monday to Friday) at 6 PM and 11 PM and will deliver up-to-the-minute local news and information, weather, sports, entertainment and community news for Spanish-speaking viewers throughout the Boston area.

José A. Rivera Adrovet has been named Anchor for Noticiero Telemundo Boston. He will be joined by Cecy Gutierrez as Weather Anchor and Grace Gomez and Ariana Alcorta as Multi-Media Journalists. 

“We are ecstatic that Telemundo Boston will debut its first-ever live and locally produced weekday newscasts to help fill the void for Spanish-language viewers that has existed in our market for far too long,” said Mike St. Peter, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Telemundo Boston. “We conducted a long and thorough search to find the best Spanish-speaking journalists and are excited to welcome Jose, Cecy, Grace and Ariana to the Telemundo Boston family. We hope our viewers tune in day-in and day-out so we can help them stay ahead of the news.”

Co-located with necn, the largest 24-hour regional news network in the United States, Telemundo Boston’s newscasts debut includes the unveiling of a new state-of-the-art newsroom and news set featuring the latest technologies and enhancements. Additionally, the station’s on-air newscasts will feature new on-screen graphics and visual designs to complement the station’s robust online and digital presence.

José A. Rivera Adrovet comes to Boston from Univision Tampa Bay, where he served as Anchor for the station’s daily afternoon and late newscasts from 2013 to 2015. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Sacred Heart University in Puerto Rico and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Navarre in Spain.

Cecy Gutierrez joins Telemundo Boston after having worked as a bilingual Weather Producer at WSI Corporation for nearly a decade.

Grace Gomez comes to Telemundo Boston from Telemundo Las Vegas, where she worked as a Multimedia Journalist and General Assignment Reporter for the past year. Previously, Gomez worked as a Reporter, Producer and Anchor for various television stations and networks including, Univision, NTN24 News, CNN Latino, CNBC and ABC News. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting from Montclair State University.

Arianne Alcorta joins Telemundo Boston after having worked for Univision network and various television and radio stations, including WPLG, Univision Tampa Bay, as well as TV Radio Marti. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Miami and just recently obtained her masters’ degree in Journalism from Columbia University.

Telemundo Boston’s local news launch represents the latest in a series of enhancements the Telemundo Station Group has made to all of the stations it owns across the United States and Puerto Rico, thanks to a significant investment made by NBCUniversal to better serve the flourishing Spanish-speaking community. NBCUniversal’s investment in its Telemundo stations has supported local news expansions, bolstered newsgathering efforts and equipped the news teams with the resources they need to be competitive in the markets they serve.
