Mike Beaudet has announced he will be leaving WFXT-TV FOX 25 in Boston, and television news, to teach full-time at Northeastern University.

"After 19 incredible years at FOX 25, it's time to start a new chapter at Northeastern" Mike said on Twitter. "Thank you to the viewers who let me tell their stories" he said, adding "don't rest too easy bad guys, I'll still do investigative journalism."

Mike has been with FOX 25 since 1996, and was part of the original reporting team that launched the news department at the station. He started at FOX 25 as a general assignment reporter, and has most recently been an investigative reporter for the station in addition to anchoring the Sunday evening newscasts. He has won numerous awards, including 15 New England Emmy Awards during his time at FOX 25. His reporting has also been recognized repeatedly by the Associated Press and the Radio Television Digital News Association.

"Mike's investigative reporting has had a lasting impact on New England viewers" said FOX 25 news director Lee Rosenthal in a statement. "His enterprise stories covered everything from organized crime to government waste and corruption. Those reports have gotten results and set the bar higher for quality investigations in the Boston television market."  He added "please join me in wishing him well in his role as a Professor at Northeastern."

Mike has taught journalism classes for several years at Emerson College and Northeastern, while reporting at FOX 25. In 2014, he joined Northeastern as a professor of the practice. With his students at Northeastern, Mike also formed a partnership with FOX 25 in January to produce investigative reports that have aired on the station since February.

Prior to FOX 25, Mike was a reporter and anchor at WMUR-TV ABC 9 in Manchester, NH. He has also worked at WLBZ-TV NBC 2 in Bangor, ME as a reporter and anchor.

A native of East Longmeadow, MA, Mike is a 1992 graduate of Emerson College where he earned a Bachelor's degree in communications. He is also a 2008 graduate of Northeastern University where he earned his Master's in journalism.

Mike's last day at FOX 25 will be at the end of September.
