Reporter Jeff Saperstone has been promoted to weekend morning anchor at New England Cable News. The move comes after NECN announced a change in their weekday anchor lineup last week.

"Starting this morning I will be anchoring weekend mornings at NECN" Jeff said in a Tweet on Saturday. "If you're near a TV Saturday and Sunday mornings, tune in!"

In addition to anchoring, Jeff will continue to report for the morning newscasts 3 days during the week.

Jeff joined NECN in May 2014 from NBCUniversal sister station WVIT-TV NBC 30 (NBC Connecticut) in Hartford where he was a reporter and fill-in anchor. After joining NBC Connecticut in 2010, Jeff covered a wide range of stories such as the presidential primary in New Hampshire; reporting live during Tropical Storms Irene and Sandy; the Springfield, MA tornadoes; and the tenth anniversary of September 11th. He was an integral part of the Sandy Hook school shooting coverage for which the station won a Peabody Award for in 2012. He also won an Emmy Award for best team coverage of Tropical Store Irene in 2011.

Covering politics and state government for NBC Connecticut, Jeff conducted sit down interviews with Governor Dannel Malloy and retiring Senator Joe Lieberman. He was also the lead reporter for President Obama's four visits to the state.

Previously, Jeff spent seven years at WXXA-TV FOX 23 in Albany, NY where he was a general assignment reporter and weekend anchor. While there, Jeff spent many days covering the Capitol and led the station’s coverage of the sudden resignation of former governor Eliot Spitzer. He was also recognized by the Associated Press for a story about a specialized team of firefighters going through training.

Jeff has also been a freelance reporter for WMUR-TV in Manchester, NH and at NECN in between his time at WXXA and WVIT. He started his career at Capital 9 News in Albany as an associate producer and assignment editor.

A native of Guilderland, NY, Jeff is a graduate of Ithaca College where he studied journalism and politics.
