Kayna Whitworth has anchored her last newscast at WHDH-TV NBC 7 in Boston.

As we first told you back in November, the move is due to her engagement with former 7 News sports reporter Rhett Lewis. Rhett now works at the NFL Network in Los Angeles, so their relationship had become long distance.

"We are saying goodbye to a good friend, after two years of early mornings and alarm clocks Kayna is saying goodbye” WHDH anchor Christa Delcamp told viewers.

Kayna added "My personal life is taking me on a bit of an adventure that’s taking me away from Boston, which is sad for me because I love it here,” after which she said her thanks.

Kayna joined WHDH in December 2012 from KOLD-TV CBS 13 in Tucson, AZ where she was the weekday morning anchor. While there, she reported on such stories as the shooting that killed 6 people and injured Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, to border wars and wildfires. She also served as the spokesperson for the Southern Arizona chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Prior to her time in Arizona, Kayna was a morning anchor and reporter at KBOI-TV CBS 2 in Boise, ID. She has also been an anchor/reporter at KTVZ-TV NBC 21 in Bend, OR, and has interned at Fox Sports.

While she loves covering the news, sports will always hold a place in Kayna's heart. Her father is a high school football coach and she grew up on the sidelines (and her husband to be is a sports anchor on TV!).

A native of Colorado, Kayna is a 2005 graduate of Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO where she studied communication and media studies.

Kayna has not yet said if she has a job lined up in Los Angeles or where she is going. We will keep you updated.

Update: Kayna is currently freelancing for ABC News One (which is the affiliate news service of ABC News) in Los Angeles.
