Kim Lucey is joining Boston's WHDH 7 as a freelance reporter, New England One has learned.
"I'm happy to announce that Kim Lucey is joining us as a freelance reporter" said WHDH news director Linda Miele in an email to staff. "Please make her feel welcome" she continued.
Kim joins WHDH from WFSB CBS 3 in Hartford, Connecticut where she was the weekend morning anchor.
"A new year means a new city for me and [my husband]" Kim said on her Facebook page. "Yesterday, I anchored my final newscast in Connecticut with this amazing crew. Next stop, Boston! I start reporting at Channel 7 next week."
Kim has covered some big news events during her six years in Connecticut, walking along the long lines for gas after Tropical Storm Irene, following the devastation and slow rebuilding in Milford from Storm Sandy, witnessing the massive manhunt in Watertown after the Boston bombings, and sharing the heartbreaking stories from the families of the Sandy Hook school shooting. She's been honored for her work by the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists, winning awards in breaking, investigative, and in depth news reporting.
Before coming to WFSB, Kim was an anchor and reporter at WFSB's sister station WSHM CBS 3 in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Prior to that, she anchored the morning news at WTAP-TV NBC 15 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and started her career at WHP CBS 21 in Pennsylvania's capital city of Harrisburg.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Kim graduated with Distinction from Penn State University in 2006 with a degree in broadcast journalism and minors in history and international studies.
Kim's last day at WFSB was January 9, and she starts at WHDH later this month.
