Perry Russom is joining New England Cable News and NBC Boston as a reporter, New England One has learned.

Perry joins necn/NBC Boston from WPRI CBS 12/WNAC FOX 64 in Providence, Rhode Island where he was a general assignment reporter and a fill-in anchor since 2014.

During his time in Providence, Perry covered stories like the State of Rhode Island's failed tourism rollout of Cooler and Warmer; the Pawtucket Red Sox attempt to move the stadium from Pawtucket to Providence; diversity in Rhode Island State Police ranks; Governor Gina Raimondo's controversial Rhode Works plan; and the Little League World Series. He also covered the 2015 blizzard and appeared on CBS This Morning.

Prior to his time at WPRI, Perry was a multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor at WBNG-TV CBS 12 Action News in Binghamton, NY.

While at WBNG, Perry covered stories from President Obama’s visit to the Southern Tier, the Binghamton mayoral race, to flood recovery efforts after waters rose in 2011 decimating homes and businesses.

Previously, he was a production assistant at KYW radio in Philadelphia, and was a production assistant for NBC Sports at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, UK.

Perry has also interned at WCAU-TV in Philadelphia, and before he worked there, he was also an intern at WBNG.

A native of suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Perry is a 2013 graduate of Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications where he majored in broadcast journalism and political science. He was named a Remembrance Scholar and Newhouse Scholar graduating magna cum laude.

Perry starts at necn/NBC Boston on October 10.
