Two key people integral to the news operation at WHDH-TV 7 in Boston are moving on to other stations ahead of the loss of its NBC affiliation at the end of this year.

Scott MacEachern

Scott MacEachern left the station on March 4 to join NBC Boston as assignment manager. He held the same role at WHDH for more than a decade.

"Scott was the glue that kept everything together" WHDH reporter Byron Barnett said in an internal email about the stations New Hampshire primary coverage that was forwarded to New England One.

Before coming to WHDH, Scott worked for NBC News.

Sources tell us WHDH couldn't match the offer NBC gave Scott.

Tony Smith

Tony Smith is leaving WHDH to join WFXT-TV FOX 25 as a morning executive producer.

Tony joined WHDH in 2010 as a producer, and was promoted to executive producer in 2012. He was most recently the executive producer of 7 News Today in New England.

Before joining WHDH, Tony spent over 4 years as a producer at WTEN-TV ABC 10 in Albany, NY. He is a 2006 graduate of Syracuse University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism.

Congrats to both on their new positions.
