Hayley LaPoint has joined WMUR News 9 in Manchester, NH as a the weekend evening meteorologist. Hayley had been doing freelance weather fill-ins at WMUR since June, her first day on air as a full-time employee was this past Saturday.

Hayley joined WMUR from Hearst sister station WPTZ-TV NBC 5 in in Plattsburgh, NY, which is part of the Burlington, VT television market.

Before her time at WPTZ, Haley was a meteorologist at KVLY-TV in Fargo, ND. While in Fargo, Hayley received the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal from the American Meteorological Society. She was also a weather intern at WHDH-TV in Boston.

Hayley is a 2009 graduate of Lyndon State College where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Meteorology and an Associate's degree in TV News.

Born and raised north of Boston in Topsfield, MA, Hayley has been interested in weather since she was a young child. She often would spend hours in front of the family camcorder with a large map pointing out the next big weather system coming up the coast. Hayley realized her love for storytelling in high school while on stage acting and singing in many theatre productions. Combining these passions, along with her love for geography and public service, made becoming a broadcast Meteorologist the ideal career path.

While not working on forecasts, Hayley enjoys spending time with family, including her husband Jim Politis who is also a meteorologist. In addition, Hayley loves exploring the outdoors, learning how to cook new dishes, and walking her Westie named Doppler.
