“No one in the newsroom is happy, no one here knows what’s happening” says an anonymous "inside" source in a recent Boston Herald report.

In the swap with Fox Television Stations, FOX 25 General Manager Gregg Kelley will stay with Fox and transition to the same role at KTVU 2 in San Francisco. His counterpart at KTVU, Tom Raponi, will stay with Cox and take over the management role at FOX 25 in Boston.

While it is true that the pending Cox Media take-over of FOX 25 will probably result in changes to the station, both on-air and off, Cox seems to have a good reputation and dedication to their news departments that their owned stations.

How this change will affect staff at FOX 25 is pure speculation at this point, as the FCC is not expected to approve the sale until around October 1, 2014.

Raponi wouldn’t speculate about any on-air changes, saying he hasn’t had time yet to even watch the Fox 25 newscasts.

“The announcement was just made two weeks ago,” he said. “Right now we’re focused, along with the Fox executives, on visiting each other’s properties to introduce ourselves to our respective news staffs. There’s been a lot of great work done there in Boston and I hope to go in and talk with the folks who are doing all that great work and go from there. That’s the way I’ve done it for the past 34 years.”

Sources have told New England One that the Herald story is "quite exaggerated," and while there may be some normal nervousness as there always is with change, there is also "excitement" to see what Cox can bring to the station.

Another source has said they have heard "great things" about Cox Media.
