WCVB-TV Channel 5 swept through the March 2014 rating period victorious in total viewers in all newscasts, once again.  With recent additions to the anchor lineup, NewsCenter 5 continues its dominance as Boston's "News Leader."

"We’ve rounded out our NewsCenter 5 team with the additions of Erika Tarantal in the morning and at Noon, and a strong pairing of JC Monahan and Phil Lipoff in the evening to join Heather and Ed at 6 and 11 p.m.," said Bill Fine, WCVB-TV President and General Manager.  "We're in a great position to navigate through the future of news in New England."

"Our ratings once again prove that viewers come to WCVB not only for the appeal of our anchors and reporters but for the style of news we present," added News Director Andrew Vrees.   "The audience knows they will get the best, most in-depth reporting from Channel 5 on any story."

In March 2014, NewsCenter 5 at 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., anchored by Heather Unruh and Ed Harding, were the two "highest rated" news broadcasts in the market in total viewers 2+.  NewsCenter 5’s EyeOpener at 6:00 a.m. drew the most viewers 25-54, delivering more key viewers than all other competitive newscasts all day long.

The "WCVB advantage" is especially prominent in the mornings as Channel 5’s EyeOpener dominates the daypart, delivering roughly double the audience of each of its competitors in households and total audience.

And at midday, with Susan Wornick passing the torch to newcomer Erika Tarantal, NewsCenter 5 at Noon continues its top rated performance in total viewers and Adults 18-49.

Post Winter Olympics, NewsCenter 5 at 11 p.m. regained its crown, topping the competitors in Households, Persons 2+, Adults 25-54 and Women 25-54.
