The New Hampshire One News Network broadcast its very first newscast one year ago today on WBIN-TV.

Based out of the renovated Walker School in Concord, NH, the network is the creation of New Hampshire businessman Bill Binnie. The station started broadcasting its news content on its radio stations in March 2014.

NH1 still has a long way to go before they can mount a serious challenge to ratings leader WMUR, but the competition greatly benefits the New Hampshire viewers.

Next week, NH1 News will also expand on half hour and be on the air from 5pm-7pm weekdays. No word on when the station plans to expand news coverage into the morning and at noon.

Many stations across the country are expanding newscasts to take advantage of political advertising spending for the upcoming 2016 Presidential Election. Being that New Hampshire holds the first primary in the election cycle, this is a smart move business wise, but it also expands local news coverage. WFXT-TV FOX 25 in Boston (New Hampshire is part of the Boston television market) is the only other station with local news between 6:30-7pm.

The 6:30-7pm newscast starts on September 21.

You can take a look at NH1's birthday video below, and also watch the very first broadcast of NH1 News at 5pm with Keke Vencill and Paul Mueller.
