Adam Williams is a news anchor at WHDH-TV NBC 7 in Boston, anchoring 7 News at 5pm, 6pm, 10pm & 11pm.
Adam joined WHDH in 2007 as a weekend morning anchor and weekday reporter. He has also spent time anchoring Today in New England, and was promoted to the main anchor position in 2013. Adam came to WHDH from Sunbeam Television sister-station WSVN-TV FOX 7 in Miami, where he anchored the weekend morning newscasts for Today in Florida. He has also worked as a reporter for KRQE-TV in Albuquerque, NM.
A native of New Mexico, Adam is a graduate of Eastern New Mexico University where he achieved a Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism.
1. What kind of phone do you have, and what are your favorite apps?
IPhone 6... but not the giant one! Favorite apps? Pinterest (for home improvement ideas), the iPhone weather app, and Google Maps!!
2. Favorite and least favorite news topics to cover (besides violent crime)?
Favorite news topics? profiles on interesting people---whether it's a political figure, law enforcement official, or someone who's doing something with their lives' that really is making a difference.
Least favorite topics? people who drive their cars into buildings !
3. If you weren't working in TV news, what would you be doing?
If not in TV, I'd like to be press secretary for a notable politician.
4. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
Toss up between Smurfs and Transformers
5. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
I usually check the weather. I'm a hot air balloon pilot... so I'm always looking for a calm weekend morning to fly!
6. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
I've always wanted to go to Tel Aviv. I'm not particularly sure why--but my soul has always been attracted to that part of the world, and that city in particular.
7. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
Any sitting U.S. President
8. Do you collect anything?
I collect a LOT of things!! tie bars, antique microphones, factory/ industrial "stuff" (to repurpose), and ANYTHING hot air balloon
9. What are the top 3 played songs on your iPod?
"Run" George Strait .... "Viva la Vida" Coldplay.... "Don't Worry Baby" Beach Boys
10. What is one of your favorite quotes?
"Life is a journey, not a destination"
11. What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?
For me, it's more important to be a BETTER person than a STRONGER person. Not to sound too "Pollyanna," but I hope random daily experiences, and how I react/ respond to them... make me better---and it turn, stronger. Make sense?
