He began his media career in high school as a correspondent for BET's award-winning talk show, “Teen-Summit.”

1. What kind of phone do you have, and what are your favorite apps?
I have the iPhone 6+. Can’t go anywhere without it. I love having all the usual social media apps, like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. I love traveling, so Google Earth and Kayak are my other favorites.

2. Favorite and least favorite news topics to cover (besides violent crime)?
Politics would be my favorite and least favorite. We have a love-hate relationship. I’m fascinated with the political process. However, it can be disheartening when seeing how few people are involved or even interested in what our city, state and national leaders are deciding on our behalf. People have the power and I think that’s been lost somewhere because the legislative process can be a bit complicated and insipid.

3. If you weren't working in TV news, what would you be doing?
I’d love to be the mayor of a city.

4. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
Not really a cartoon, but Power Rangers. I recall running home from elementary school to finish my homework in time so I could watch the show. Sadly, I can still recite the show’s open and a few scenes.

5. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
Since I work at night, most of my free-time is during the day. I’m either getting distracted by good reads on Twitter or trying to squeeze in a workout.

6. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
It changes by the hour. I’m either looking for a cultural experience or a place to detox my brain and relax.

I’ve been obsessing about Bora Bora lately. Why wouldn’t I be? I love the outdoors and being on the water.

7. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
Oprah. Love that woman. She's so wise and I really appreciate her perspective on life and generous spirit.

8. Do you collect anything?
I try and take a picture of something that catches my eye every day. When I got my first smart phone and realized I could freely capture so many moments with photos and video, it was over. I was transferring a year’s worth of pictures to a hard drive and realized it told a story. I love history, so, looking back on my own is pretty cool. That self-reflection has really helped with my personal growth.

9. What are the top 3 played songs on your iPod?
Chrisette Michele's, "A Couple of Forevers."
Pitbull and Ne-Yo’s, “Time of our lives,”
along with Estelle and Jussie Smollett’s, “Conqueror.”

10. What is one of your favorite quotes?
“There but for the grace of God go I.”

11. What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?
The recent move to Hartford. Getting out of your comfort zone is always a challenge, but it's necessary. Plus, moving all those boxes made me physically stronger.
