Kainani Stevens is a reporter at WLNE-TV ABC 6 in Providence, RI.

Kainani joined ABC 6 from WGGB-TV ABC 40 in Springfield, MA where she was most recently a weekend sports anchor and reporter. Before joining WGGB, Kainani was a production assistant for the New England Sports Network (NESN). She has also spent time as a sideline reporter at college station GoNU.TV; and as an announcer and sideline reporter at WRBB student radio.

A native of Maine, Kainani is a 2011 graduate of Northeastern University where she double majored in journalism and communication studies.

1. What kind of phone do you have, and what are your favorite apps?
iPhone and my favorite app lately has been Yelp. I just moved to Providence so I'm enjoying eating and drinking my way through the city. Candy Crush keeps me busy in-between live shots though.

2. Favorite and least favorite news topics to cover (besides violent crime)?
I'm a sports girl at heart so anything "sporty" that I can pitch for a news story is great for me. Weather stories are tough because they usually involve a lot of damage and destruction. Also, I may be from Maine but standing outside for live shots during a blizzard is not my idea of a fun snow day.

3. If you weren't working in TV news, what would you be doing?
I always wanted to be a lawyer when I was little because I thought they got paid to argue with people. I still think I would be good at that but I'd probably be a sports agent rather than go to court every day.

4. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
I'm a 90's kid so it was all about Rugrats, Doug and Hey Arnold!

5. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
Sleep. When you work in TV you rarely have a "normal" schedule, so you have to catch a nap when you can.

6. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
My parents have a slight obsession with Hawaii. They got married there, gave me a Hawaiian name and spent many vacations in the Aloha state. I haven't been back since I was 16 so it would be nice to take a trip to Maui.

7. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
Bill Russell. My favorite athlete of all time and a huge civil rights activist. I could listen to him tell stories all day.

8. Do you collect anything?
Not really. I have a lot of dresses if you want to count that.

9. What are the top 3 played songs on your iPod?
Lately "Bad Blood" by Taylor Swift & Kendrick Lamar. Rihanna and The Weekend are always on my playlist though.

10. What is one of your favorite quotes?
 It's probably a tie between:

"The only correct actions are those that demand no explanation and no apology." - Red Auerbach

 and

 "YOLO" - Drake

11. What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?
Every day I go to work is different. That's what I love most about my job, but it's also what makes it difficult for me. I like to prepare for things as much as I can but in this business that usually isn't possible. I've learned it's best to go with the flow and don't stress too much as long as you make your deadline.
