Elizabeth Noreika is an anchor and reporter at WHDH-TV NBC 7 in Boston, anchoring the weekday 4pm, 4:30pm & 5:30pm newscasts and reporting for the late shows.

Before coming to WHDH in 2014, Elizabeth spent almost 8 years at WCHS-TV ABC 8 & WVAH-TV FOX 11 in Charleston, WV, where she was most recently the main weekday news anchor. She has also been a weekend anchor/reporter at WOAY-TV ABC 50 in Oakville, WV. She started working at WOAY two weeks before graduating college and says that her experience was "pretty much like graduate school, throwing me out into the field to learn for myself the ins and outs of reporting."

A native of Huntsburg, OH, Elizabeth is a graduate of Ohio University where she studied political science and government/communications.

1. What kind of phone do you have, and what are your favorite apps?
I am behind the times when it comes to my phone. I have a Samsung S4. Yes I know the S5 is out lol. I'm the type of person who thinks "if it's not broke why fix it?" I use the twitter app a lot to tweet stories out in the field or from the desk... same with Facebook. I am also addicted to Pinterest. I use that app to find recipes or dinner ideas all the time.

2. Favorite and least favorite news topics to cover (besides violent crime)?
I love human interest stories that show the good in people, i.e. firefighters going the extra mile to save a family pet... or a purple heart found years later and returned to its rightful owner. In a world where we constantly hear about bad decisions and bad things happening... I think it is refreshing, even needed... to know there are good things and good people. I like a story where I can actually laugh out loud or just can't help but smile because it's that great.

I hate hate hate... anything having to do with bad things happening to children... or even animals. Those stories make me physically ill. You want to say the first thing that comes to your mind but obviously it isn't an editorial so you don’t... plus you don't want to be fired ;).

3. If you weren't working in TV news, what would you be doing?
I think If I wasn’t working in TV I'd want to be a baker. I love food. LOVE FOOD. I always like to watch the Food Network, especially Cupcake Wars and Chopped. I love cooking too... it helps relax me and I also like to share what I make with others. I like to cook for my husband on weekends and then make different baked goods to bring in to work or share with friends (otherwise we'd eat all the sweets.) I even thought of a bakery name: "Sweet Elizabeth's" lol... I have it all planned out.

4. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
I loved watching My Little Ponies. I think I even had every one of the figurines growing up. My mom sometimes had to work on the weekends so instead of telling me what time she'd be home she'd just say it would be "like 8 My Little Pony episodes"... it helped me understand it more lol.

5. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
Free time? What's that? If I ever get a spare minute I like to look for different recipes or shop online. It's more of "window shopping" because I don't buy things that often. I just like look :)>

6. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
I always wanted to go to Ireland. I took a class in college about the history of Ireland and ever since then I've wanted to go. I also think Lithuania would be neat... learn more about my heritage.

7. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
If I could have anyone as a dinner guest it'd be my mom. She passed away more than 2 years ago from cancer... and not a day goes by I don't think about her or wish for more time. She was my best friend.

8. Do you collect anything?
I don't really collect anything... my mom use to buy me these bear statues "Boyds Bears" for doing well on a report card or for my birthday. I love those but other than that... no real collections.

9. What are the top 3 played songs on your iPod?
My play list is reallly random. The 3 most played songs are: Metallica "Sad But True", Train "Drops of Jupiter" and The Flys "Got You Where I want You" . I also play Counting Crows alllllll the time.

10. What is one of your favorite quotes?
"Strong women. May we know them, may we raise them, may we be them." I always thought that quote was very neat and spoke to me. I like the idea of women raising each other up rather than tearing each other down.

11. What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?
A stronger person? I guess that'd be the death of my mother. I don't know if it's her passing that made me stronger... but it's my desire to want to be more like her that has been inspiring. She was so great. She always had the best attitude... even when she was battling cancer. Always positive... I need to be more like that.
