Kara Sundlun is the anchor of Channel 3 Eyewitness News at Noon on WFSB-TV CBS 3 in Hartford. She is also the co-host of the lifestyle and entertainment magazine program Better Connecticut that airs weekdays on WFSB.

Kara is also a published author, writing an inspirational memoir called Finding Dad:From Love Child to Daughter that was released in 2014. In her book, she shares the story of meeting her biological father Bruce Sundlun when she was a teenager and he was the Governor of Rhode Island.

Prior to joining WFSB in 2000, Kara was a reporter at WOTV-TV ABC 4 in Battle Creek, MI. She has also been an intern and youth reporter at WPRI-TV CBS 12 in Providence, RI; and was an intern at both The White House and CNN's Washington Bureau.

A native of the Detroit area, Kara is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where she earned a dual degree in political science and communications. Kara also has strong ties to New England with close family in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

1. What kind of phone do you have, and what are your favorite apps?
  iPhone. I love my meditation apps. They are great for grabbing 5 minutes of calm in between work and taking kids to their activities. Right now I like the Deepak Chopra/Oprah Winfrey meditation challenge app and the Mayo Clinic meditation app.

2. Favorite and least favorite news topics to cover (besides violent crime)?
 I love learning about ways to make everyday life better on Better Connecticut. From simple tricks to carve a turkey to easy DIY crafts I love anything I can do right away. I love learning and reporting on anything that helps us improve our mind-body-spirit connection. We are so lucky to have a rich community of healing arts in Connecticut.

 I dislike covering anything about taxes!

3. If you weren't working in TV news, what would you be doing?
  I love my job so I feel so blessed to live my dream. I also loved writing my memoir Finding Dad: From Love Child to Daughter. I might write a second book. But, if I didn't do this I think I'd love to be a dolphin trainer. I'm obsessed with all things ocean!

4. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
 Bugs Bunny

5. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
 Play with my kids or just sit! Seriously, I'm learning doing nothing is highly underrated.

6. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
 African Safari. I love animals and would love to see them up close.

7. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
 Alive? Oprah for sure. But, I'd love to talk to Einstein and Jesus too.

8. Do you collect anything?
 Too much kids stuff that I am constantly trying to get rid of!

9. What are the top 3 played songs on your iPod?
 I'm bad at changing my songs so once they're on my iPod they stay. Higher by Creed. Eye of the Tiger for working out and Mantra Music to center after a nutty day!

10. What is one of your favorite quotes?
 “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” - Maya Angelou

11. What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?
 Writing my memoir. Writing a book is like giving birth. It's a journey that leaves you better and stronger. Books and babies. Love them.
