1. What kind of phone do you have, and what are your favorite apps?
I have the IPhone 4. I'm kind of a minimalist, so just use the basic maps and weather apps...except when it comes to news! I have apps for the major local papers, our competitors and of course for FOX25!

2. Favorite and least favorite news topics to cover (besides violent crime)?
I love the diversity of what we cover in news. I'm a naturally curious person, fascinated by this world. I love going to new places, meeting people from all walks of life, and expanding my view of the world. Even the tragic stories can be an honor to cover-- I've been so inspired by ordinary people I meet who show extraordinary strength in the most challenging of circumstances. I learn something new everyday...and sometimes the best lessons are about the human spirit. I know that may sound cheesy...but it's true!

3. If you weren't working in TV news, what would you be doing?
I'd love to run an animal rescue organization, and actually dream of having an animal sanctuary on the side someday. I love almost all animals, and haven't had the heart to eat red meat for almost 15 years.

4. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
My Little Pony. I grew up on a horse farm in rural North Carolina, and have always loved horses. In most of my childhood pictures, I'm carrying either a My Little Pony doll or the Black Stallion figurine....or I'm with a real horse!

5. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
A quick workout, a walk with the dogs, or checking headlines.

6. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
Either Australia or Antarctica. I've been blessed to have traveled to very continent except those two, so they've been on my "bucket list." My family is scattered throughout Asia and Europe. I've been lucky enough to visit relatives across the globe. I've also travel through Africa and South America. So Australia and South America would round out the seven continents for me.

7. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
The Dalai Lama. His teachings have helped me navigate many obstacles in my life, and have given me great perspective on what is important. I also love that he embraces all religions. I come from an interfaith household: my father is Jewish, my mother is Catholic, my grandparents and extended family in Asia are Buddhist. I love that the Dalai Lama embraces all faiths. For him, it's most important that we show compassion...and for me too.

8. Do you collect anything?
Only memories. I try to be a minimalist at least materially. But I suppose I do have a lot of clothes, given my line of work!

9. What are the top 3 played songs on your iPod?
I like a mix of music, especially soulful tunes. I love country like Darius Rucker and Chase Rice (both from the Carolinas, like me). I love British rock bands like the Kaiser Chiefs and Spacehog...and I love classic rock from Pink Floyd to the Rolling Stones. (British too!) I've also had my grunge & hip hop phases. And I really appreciate some of the Latin rock out there like Jarabe de Palo. For dancing, I like Reggaeton.

10. What is one of your favorite quotes?
Bruce Lee has a memorable quote that has always stuck with me: "Notice the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or the willow survive by bending with the wind." His strength truly came from within. And he's right: life is a journey, full of surprises. Let's be open to the possibilities.

11. What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?
All of them! I've heard it said that life alternates between calm and chaos. The periods of chaos are when we grow. The calm is to rest for the chaos.
