New England Cable News, the largest 24-hour regional news network in the country, has named Kenny Plotnik Vice President of News.

“Kenny Plotnik is among the most experienced news leaders in the country and we’re excited to welcome him to the NECN team,” Mike St. Peter, SVP and GM of NECN said in a statement.

Plotnik comes to NECN from Plotnik Media Group LLC, which he founded in 2012 and is the President.

Previously, he spent 25 years at WABC-TV in New York City working his way up from Managing Editor to Assistant News Director, to then spending 10 years at the Vice President and News Director of the number one station in the number one market in the country.

He has also worked at WPVI-TV ABC 6 in Philadelphia, and WKBW-TV ABC 7 in Buffalo.

A 1975 graduate of The State University of New York at Buffalo, Plotnik is the ricipient of several awards including a Peabody in 2001, a Dupont in 2002 and a Murrow in 2004.

He starts on October 6.
