Ann Nyberg is a news anchor at WTNH-TV ABC 8 in New Haven, CT where she co-anchors the 6pm & 10pm newscasts.

Ann has been with WTNH since 1987, and is the second longest serving female anchor in Connecticut history behind Denise D'Ascenzo of WFSB-TV. In addition to anchoring the news, Ann also hosts the online program "Nyberg" which can be seen at www.wtnh.com. She is the founder and runs the website www.NetworkConnecticut.com, which spotlights people and places and small businesses all over the state. She also owns her own boutique store in Madison called Annie Mame, where she carries unique items made in Connecticut.

If all of that weren't enough to keep her busy, Ann is also a published author. Her book “Slices of Life: A Storyteller’s Diary” comes out in October (which you can pre-order here.)

A native of South Bend, IN, Ann is a 1979 graduate of Purdue University where she received her Bachelor's degree in journalism.

1. What kind of phone do you have, and what are your favorite apps?
 I have an iPhone 6... love it, but probably should have gotten the 6 plus... I like the wider screens.

 Favorite apps... The weather Channel, Pandora, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, PicMonk, Solitaire, I use this one on long plane rides.

2. Favorite and least favorite news topics to cover (besides violent crime)?
 I love a good story, any good story, Over the decades I didn't care for covering court cases in the courtroom. Love to write about innovators and entrepreneurs and new ideas.

3. If you weren't working in TV news, what would you be doing?
 I would be writing. The written word is everything to me in fact I have just written my first book due out October, 2015. It's called "Slices of Life~ A Storyteller's Diary."  It is being published by Homebound Publications based in Connecticut. I also write a column in Coastal Connecticut magazine called "Get Out Of Your Car And Into Connecticut." In the column, I write about all kinds of people places and things all over Connecticut.

4. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
 Bugs Bunny.

5. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
 Sometimes I pick up the knitting needles. I am a big time knitter. I also spend time in my Annie Mame Boutique in Madison, Connecticut bringing in new items and talking to people there to get MORE stories from folks. Thirty minutes is a lot of time to surf the web too and talk to folks on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and to write on my blogs, NetworkConnecticut.com and my boutique blog, AnnieMame.com

6. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
 I LOVE to travel. In the fall of 2014 I was in Eastern Europe. My husband and I traveled with two other couples and drove more than one thousand miles through Poland, Austria and Croatia and points in between. My favorite place on the planet is the village of Oia on the island of Santorini in Greece, it is magical.

7. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
 I had the wonderful experience to interview the once most trusted man in America, the late Walter Cronkite. I spent an hour interviewing him in front of an audience at Southern Connecticut State University. After it was over I just wanted to go get a beer with the guy... I would have loved to have had dinner with him.

8. Do you collect anything?
 I love McCoy pottery from the 1930's and 40's. I am a vintage kind of gal so I love yesteryear from the 1900's all the way through the 1950's. I especially love anything that is Art Deco.

9. What are the top 3 played songs on your iPod?
 Anything big band and Frank Sinatra, love all the crooners of yesteryear.

10. What is one of your favorite quotes?
 "If you obey all the rules you miss all the fun." - Katharine Hepburn

11. What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?
 As a story teller you tell tales of people struggling all of the time it makes me understand how precious life is.I think you understand how strong you are when bad things happen around you and you are able to rise to the occasion to help families and friends, I have been tested many times.
