Julie Grauert is the in-studio traffic reporter on the FOX 25 Morning News on WFXT-TV in Boston.

Julie joined FOX 25 in January from Time Warner Cable's NY1 news network in New York City where she was a general assignment reporter. Before that, she spent a year as the morning traffic anchor and a general assignment/features reporter at WPIX-TV CW 11, and a few months as a reporter for WNYW-TV FOX 5, both in New York City. She has also been a reporter and anchor at KPTV-TV in Portland, OR; and KNBN-TV in Rapid City, SD. She has also worked behind the scenes in production at TV Guide Network, and has interned at both NBC News and Fox News Channel.

A native of Lake Oswego, OR, Julie is a 2005 graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. where she studied English language and literature.

1. What kind of phone do you have, and what are your favorite apps?
I’m an iPhone loyalist and a social media addict so the apps on my main page are Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  I also have fun making photo collages on YouDoodle and Diptic… and of course Google Maps and Waze for traffic info!

2. Favorite and least favorite news topics to cover (besides violent crime)?
Besides reporting your morning traffic news, my favorite stories to tell are about everyday people who are doing extraordinary things.  The hardest stories to tell are ones about children who are suffering, because I feel so helpless.

3. If you weren't working in TV news, what would you be doing?
If I had a good voice, I’d want to be performing on Broadway.  If I had an unlimited bank account, I’d start a foundation and give all my money away!

4. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
Cartoons were never my thing growing up.  Instead, I was a huge fan of Salute Your Shorts on Nickelodeon, Saved By The Bell and Boy Meets World.

5. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
I’ll text or call friends and family for a quick catch-up session.  If I have 90 minutes, I find a Bikram Yoga class.

6. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
I’d return to one of my favorite cities- Paris, and then go explore the vineyards of Italy.

7. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
I’d like to have dinner with two family members who I never had the honor of meeting: my Grandfather Hans, who emigrated from Germany to Rochester, NY during World War 2 and my Uncle Hans, who graduated from Notre Dame and was killed in Vietnam.

8. Do you collect anything?
I collect playbills of all the Broadway shows I’ve attended.  My record is 54 shows in 52 weeks!

9. What are the top 3 played songs on your iPod?
Seasons of Love from RENT, Ghost by Ella Henderson & Bad Romance by Lady Gaga

10. What is one of your favorite quotes?
“A ship in port is safe, but that’s not what ships are built for.”

11. What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?
Moving from New York to Boston was an exciting challenge and I love getting to know Bostonians and the city they so dearly love.
