Malini Basu is joining WFXT-TV FOX 25 in Boston as a reporter.

Malini comes to FOX 25 from KHOU-TV CBS 11 in Houston, TX where she was most recently a general assignment reporter.

Malini is no stranger to reporting in New England. Prior to her time at KHOU, she was a general assignment reporter at WVIT-TV NBC 30 in Hartford. One of the memorable stories she covered while at NBC Connecticut was the freak October snowstorm where 700,000 people were without power for days, some for weeks.

She was also a reporter and weekend morning anchor at WLNE-TV ABC 6 in Providence for almost four years. While at ABC 6, she covered crime in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts, and broke several exclusive stories that made national headlines. Some of the stories she covered were the "Craigslist Killer," the 2011 New England Tornado outbreak and presidential visits to Rhode Island.

Malini has also spent time as a reporter at WSYR-TV ABC 9 in Syracuse, NY, and at WPTZ-TV NBC 5 in Plattsburgh, NY.

In addition, she was a field producer and writer for WNYW-TV FOX 5, and a news assistant/photographer for Time Warner cable's NY1 news, both in New York City.

A native of Queens, NY, Malini is a graduate of St. John's University in Jamaica, NY where she studied communications and business.

Malini is of Indian descent and speaks fluent Bengali. She has spent several summers in India where her parents grew up before they emigrated to New York.

Malini starts at FOX 25 on March 2.
