Chris McKinnon has been promoted to anchor at WBZ-TV CBS 4 in Boston, and will join Kathryn Hauser as a co-anchor of WBZ This Morning and WBZ News at Noon.

Chris had most recently been filling in on the anchor desk with Bree Sison while Hauser was on maternity leave. The anchor position has been open since David Wade was moved to evenings last August.

“We are thrilled that Chris will be assuming the role as the co-anchor of WBZ This Morning with Kathryn Hauser" CBS Boston news director Gary LaPlante said in a statement today. "His warm personality and local knowledge, having grown up in the greater Boston area, make him a perfect fit for the morning news audience.”

This is Chris's second promotion since joining WBZ last September. He was promoted from freelance reporter to full-time last November.

Chris came to WBZ from KWTV News 9 in Oklahoma City, OK were he was a general assignment reporter since October 2011.

Prior to KWTV, he was a anchor/reporter for KREX-TV in Grand Junction, CO. He has also worked at USC's Annenberg TV News during college and has interned at SiriusXM Radio.

A native of Melrose, MA, Chris is a 2009 graduate of the University of Southern California with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. Chris says reporting is his dream profession because he gets to meets new people and see new places every day.
