Tony Bernhardt has joined Gray's WVLT-TV CBS 8 in Knoxville, TX as the stations vice president of news & news director. He replaces Lena Sadiwskyj who's been the news director there for the last four years.
Tony joins WVLT from WTNH-TV ABC 8 in Hartford (New Haven), CT where he as been the assistant news director since 2013.
With experience both in front of and behind the camera, Tony has held many positions in his career. Before joining WTNH, he spent almost 4 years at FOX O&O WOFL-TV in Orlando as managing editor. While at WOFL, he played a big role in planning the coverage of two trials that made national headlines - Casey Anthony and George Zimmerman.
He's also worked as a senior assignment editor at WTTG-TV in Washington, D.C.; and as an assignment manager for NBC News.
Tony started his career at KKTV-TV CBS 11 in Colorado Springs, CO as a reporter and anchor.
A native of Tampa, FL, Tony is a graduate of the University of South Flordia where he studied journalism.
Tony's last day at WTNH was at the end of April.
