Former WFSB anchor/reporter Hena Daniels and former WTNH meteorologist Erika Martin have joined Tribune's WPIX-TV CW 11 in New York City.

Tribune Broadcasting director of communications Jessica Bellucci tells New England One that both women have joined WPIX in freelance positions.

Hena Daniels joins from WFSB-TV CBS 3 in Hartford, CT where she was most recently part of the special projects unit at WFSB, reporting for the "On Your Side" and "I-Team" brands.

Hena has had two stints at WFSB, first coming to the station in 2005 as a general assignment reporter.

In 2008, she was promoted to weekend evening anchor, making her one of the first Pakistani news anchors in the U.S. Also that year, a reporting adventure took her to Pakistan days after martial law was declared in the country. Hena had exclusive access to a military base in Karachi. She interviewed former President Pervez Musharraf's retired Lieutenant Colonels. She also reported at Benazir Bhutto's house while the Prime Minister was under house arrest and weeks before being assassinated.

In 2010, she left WFSB to join Meredith Corporation sister station WGCL in Atlanta as a reporter and fill-in anchor.

Hena returned to WFSB in March of 2012 as weekend evening anchor, saying at the time "“I’m thrilled to be back. I’m from NYC so after spending two years in the South I realized I wanted to be closer to my family and friends.  Plus, as often as I anchored at CBS Atlanta (which was the last 5 months [at the station]) Channel 3 offered a full-time anchor job. It’s nice to come back to a dominant number one station and be closer to home.”

Hena came to WFSB, the first time, from WTOC-TV CBS 11 in Savannah, GA where she was a general assignment reporter. Prior to that, she was a multimedia journalist at WWTI-TV ABC 50 in Watertown, NY.

A native of New York City, Hena is a 2000 graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo where she earned two bachelor's degrees in english and psychology.

In addition to her work in television news, Hena is an Adjunct Professor at Capital Community College and has also taught at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting.

Erika Martin joins from WTNH-TV ABC 8 in New Haven, CT where she was most recently the weekday evening meteorologist.

Erika joined WTNH from WSHM-TV CBS 3 in Springfield, MA where she was a meteorologist.

She has also freelanced in the San Francisco Bay area, and got her start as a meteorologist at KRNV-TV NBC 4 in Reno, NV.

Aside from weather, Erika's first on-camera job was as a fashion reporter for Event Links (a local show based in New York City). She has worked for MTV, as the resident fashion expert on the quirky make-over show "Trailer Fabulous", co-host for the nationally syndicated Latin entertainment news show "Latination" co-host of Style Network's "Dress My Nest", red-carpet correspondent for numerous fashion week events, a host on musicplustv.com, co-host of Purple News Network, and a lifestyle correspondent for Pepsi.com.

Prior to her on camera experience, Erika worked as a wardrobe stylist for television and print in New York City, and has styled celebrities and models, as well as numerous ad campaigns.

Erika began her college career at NYU, but completed her degree in Broadcast Journalism with an emphasis in Production at Santa Monica College, she also earned a B.S. in Meteorology from Mississippi State University. She has also passed her Certified Broadcast Meteorologist exam and is in the process of earning her CBM Seal. In addition, Erika has also been accepted into a Masters program in Meteorology and began classes in the fall of 2014.
