Nancy Chen has joined WJLA ABC 7 and NewsChannel 8 in Washington, D.C. as an anchor.

Nancy Chen has joined WJLA ABC 7 and NewsChannel 8 in Washington, D.C. as an anchor.

"Some life news" she announced on her Facebook page, "after five wonderful years in Boston, I'm moving next month to anchor at ABC 7 News - WJLA in DC."

"So grateful for fantastic bosses and amazing coworkers who have truly become family" she said.

Nancy joins WJLA from WHDH 7 News in Boston, where she spent five years as the weekend anchor and weekday reporter.

During her time there, she covered stories of national and global significance, including the Boston Marathon bombings and aftermath; the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, Brazil; the 2015 Super Bowl; the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia; the 2013 EF5 Moore, Oklahoma tornado; a royal visit by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge; and a Medal of Honor ceremony at the White House.

Nancy joined WHDH from KSBY in San Luis Obispo/Santa Barbara, California, where she was a multimedia journalist. She also worked as a web producer at KABC in Los Angeles and was involved in production for NBC Sports in Beijing during the 2008 Summer Olympics.

As a print reporter, she wrote for the Tulsa World for three years.

Born in Texas, Nancy was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where her parents still live. She graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in International Relations, attending as a Trustee Scholar on a full academic scholarship. She also studied Chinese at Peking University in Beijing.

Nancy starts at WJLA on April 10.
